Monsters troll the bottom of the sea.
I skim the surface, seeking placid waters.
Waves undulate, varying intensity.
I shimmy and dance along like a Sufi master whirling through droplets of water.
Ocean spray sparkles, radiating light.
Thunderheads approach, ominous.
Wind howls like the beasts lurking below.
Monsters troll the bottom of the sea.
In moments
when I, too,
skim the surface
I gather myself
before I sink,
slowing down
to read the words
again with purpose
— a poetic response to your poem

Your words help us visualize what is happening. The senses are evoked. A hint of personification, “I shimmy snd dance…”. helps to ‘show’ not ‘tell’.

I love how the danger and beauty coexist in your poem. You chose many powerful, evocative words: undulate, whirling, lurking!!
